The biggest lesson I've learnt from starting my own cosmetics business?
To believe I can, self limiting beliefs, were and still are hardest thing I had to deal with, realising bit by bit I'm limitless was really empowering and to be honest is so necessary in all parts of your life not just business. I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone with both of my businesses. I didn't want to do a lot of the things but I knew I had to, to create success but I could feel the universe shoving me along gracefully from behind teaching me to take the leap and I'm so glad that I did. Cosmetics is a very daunting industry to get into because it's not good enough to have an amazing product, you also have to learn the laws, regulations and procedures that go along and that is a minefield and can really leave you questioning your capability. But I'm here to say it honestly does get easier you will get your head around it and you are capable. The most important things to research are
Cosmetic safety assessments, you cannot legally sell in the UK without a CSPR.
Your local councils requirements around good manufacturing practice and registering your business.
Having a Good manufacturing process in place.
Labelling and how to do it right, your assessor will likely to be able to help you with this.
Registering your products on the portal via the OPCC
You also need to remember that you shouldn't be selling outside the UK unless you're following the rules for the country you're selling too as well. EU has different rules and procedures to the UK and so does the USA don't get caught out do your research or stick to the UK market.
If I could say anything to you it would be just do it! You will never be ready, it will never be perfect and there will always be people telling you not to do it. But ignore all that and do it anyway, take the risk, post that post, set up that business page learning on the job is really the only way I've had loads of things happen that I thought would be great and for whatever reason never panned out but without trying I wouldn't know if it would be successful. Oh and get a group of business besties because they're invaluable surrounding yourself with good people makes a huge difference.
